Video

Forgive me for STILL not posting Cid, but I was busy Thursday and Yesterday with filming for my project. It's currently processing on Youtube, so I'll go get that link and you can check back every now and then like I've been so see if it went through. Starring along side me in that video is Ami from this blog (which she doesn't update much but I'll get her to do it): http://geekgirlami.blogspot.com/

After art on Wednesday I can very easily say my Griever pendant is almost done! I love how it looks so far and I can't wait to share it with you!

Here's the link to the video, see you next time!

Update

As soon as school lets out today, I'm on a break! So, today I brought my Griever to school so I can work on it during art class. I have a pretty open minded teacher, so I'm sure he won't have any problems. I got a lot done on it last night too.

My mom loved the patterns I posted yesterday! I can't wait to start stitching those too~ Anyway, I'll be working on my art project music video all weekend so I'm in a really good mood. And I mean it this time, I will scan and post Cid tonight!!!!

Since I don't have anything recent to post for you, I'm going to post one of my older drawings and maybe a pattern, depending on what I have.

So I found my watercolor painting of Hanyuu from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. I think I'll go in depth on this series in a different post in the not to distant future. I LOVE this series, it's twisted, cute, and really well written. It will make you cry, and go what the hell so many times. The characters are adorable and you'll feel for at least one of them no matter what.

Here's a pattern I made of Sailor Mercury's symbol from Sailor Moon. It's super simple and quick. I'll post more over the weekend.

Hiroshi-Kun Cross-Stitch Pattern

So after I posted this morning, I couldn't help but fullfil my promise of another Wallflower pattern with a pattern for Sunako's beloved and most trusted friend, her anatomical doll Hiroshi-kun. His apearance may be creepy, but he's a huge comedic relief, introducing most episodes with a depressed "Hiroshi here." Though an inanimate object, Hiroshi is a fun and loveable character. Getting the muscle right on him was pretty tough. I hope to get a lot of stuff done to post for you over Easter break, which starts when school gets out tomorrow.
Until Then I hope you enjou this pattern, and if you sew it before I ever get around to it I'd love to see it! Send me a picture at my email musawinxgirl@hotmail.com or post a link in the comments!

New Patterns 3/26/13

I still haven't gotten Cid scanned or my Griever WIP picture off my phone. To make it up to you, I have some new cross stitch patterns to post for you!
Remember that anime I reviewed called The Wallflower? I made two patterns from that series that I'm sure you'll love if you've seen the show. I'm going to stitch them for my mom since she loves the show so much. Now, without further ado...MY PATTERNS!

Here's a simple pattern of the main character, Sunako Nakahara, in her typical chibi form. She usually exists in this form unless she's doing something amazingly badass

And my other pattern is of one of her famous Nosebleeds aimed at Kyohei!

I'm going to try to make a few more patterns from this series, so look out for them!~

Update 3/25/13

I finished Cid a while ago, but I've been to busy to scan him, and I've sewn more on my Griever. I'll post photos tonight after school.
And now to tell you what it is I've been busy with!!! For art class I've been assigned to do a multimedia project on culture. I'm creating a music video to the song The Otaku Anthem (I Wanna Live) by the L33tStr33t Boys. If you haven't heard it check it out!

I got some filming done over this weekend, and will be finishing it up over the Easter Break.
Anyway, check out the L33tStr33t Boys!

ANIME REVIEW: The Wallflower

Today I'm going to be reviewing Yamato Nadeshiko Shinchi Henge! Also known as The Wallflower or Pretty Girl Evolution.
I'm going to talk a little about each of the characters and then go onto the actual review, but let me say this: It was an anime my own mother wanted to see all the way through, and even cosplayed from (Twice)!

Minne Nakahara: The Instigator.
The wealthy owner of a fabulous mansion where four beautiful boys live. She makes a deal with the boys so that if they manage to turn her Niece Sunako into a lady, she'll let them live there rent free for a year! Minne is a flambouyant and cheerful woman on a quest to find love (ever since her one true love died.) She is often shown leaving the mansion in a humorous fashion with her newest boyfriend. Some of these include flying off in a giant jet, or leaving in a limo too big to turn around in the driveway. She's aboslutely hopeless at household chores but is a loving and wonderful lady.

Kyohei Takano: The leader and the Bad Boy
Kyouhei Takano grew up poor with a mother who was jealous of his beauty. He saw the way she suffered and ran away to work for a living. He is often the victim of sexual harrassment at work and gets fired because of his refusal. He seems to be the strongest out of the four boys living in Minne's mansion, and is a natural born leader. He'll do whatever it takes to get what he wants, even if it means butting heads with Suanko.

Yukinojo Toyama: The cute, sensitive one
Yuki is very easily frightened and incredibly cute! His feminine looks often wind up being the reason he's forced to cross dress to help Kyohei out of tight spots. He seems to really like Kyohei because he's tough and cool. He's good friends with all the boys and Sunako too.

Ranmaru Mori: The flirt
Ranmaru is a through and through ladies man, which often gets him into trouble. He's very flambouyant and likes pretty girls. He's seen fooling around throughout the show but he knows what he's doing when it comes to make up and pretty outfits. He's the boy's best chance at turning Sunako into a lady.

Takenaga Oda: The brains
Takenaga is easily the smartest and most down to earth of the boys. He comes from a rich traditional family but for some reason is staying with the other boys at Minne's mansion. He's the voice of reason and the calmest in times of crisis, but he gets nervous around his "not quite girlfriend" Noi.

Sunako Nakahara: The problem
Sunako's heart was broken in middle school when she confessed her feelings to the boy she liked. He responded by telling her he didn't "date ugly girls." Since then she's refused to look in a mirror for the past two years and doesn't do a darn thing to improve her appearance. She's very dark and cynical. She loves the occult and all horror films so much she has anatomical dolls and skeletons in her room, which she's even named and talks to when no one seems to understand how she feels. Sunako is so dark its comical. She "can't stand to live with creatures of light" such as the boys and gets nosebleeds whenever she sees them. This is a running gag that never gets old.

Noi Kasahara: The girly Girl
Takenaga's girlfriend, and the only girl rooting for Sunako. She's flirty and girly but she isn't afraid of arguing with Kyohei constantly. She truly believes in Sunako and wants her to succeed. Noi is also horrible at house hold chores.

The Review:
The animation is very pretty but a little oversaturated with flowers at times. However it makes a very comical transition from the typical shoujo style to very crude chibis and even stick men. Some of the "creature of light" jokes get old and it doesn't follow the manga(which is still ongoing)completely. Some parts of the show I have to make a comment on are the "Road to Womanhood" and the "Goth Goth Loli sisters". The Road to womanhood gives small tips in the middle of the show on how to be more feminine and are pretty funny, but the Goth Goth Loli sisters, while funny at first, are overused and annoying. I really liked Sunako's character, and so did my mom. My mom cosplayed both Minne Nakahara and her Niece Sunako and had a lot of fun doing so. The boy's are all pretty sweet and I think in the future when my mom cosplay's Sunako again I'll either be Kyohei or Ranmaru to match.
My whole family Highly Reccommends The Wallflower

Here's my Mom's Sunako Cosplay by the way :)

Happy Belated St. Patrik's Day! 3/18/13

Happy Belated St. Patrick's Day! Here I am all greened up yesterday! Anyway I promised you guy's a decent post so I have three other things to put up.

First is more progress on Cid.

I'm finally on to the shading with him, I just hope he comes out looking as quirky yet cool as he does in Advent Children

Next is the Griever pendant cross stitch! I've gotten all the black completed and am working on filling it in. It won't be long now until it's finished. If only I had more free time to sew.

And last but certainly not least in my earlier post I said I'd do a Junjou Romantica pattern, which I did complete!
Here it is <3
That's it for today I'll post more when I have some updates. Enjoy~

Mini Update (Today's post will be done afterschool)

I forgot to take the WIP pictures off my phone so I'll be doing a much better post later today. In the mean time I'll tell you about something else! I have a new pattern for you made by yours truly~ If you love Chibi's and Reno from FF7 here, this is for you.

I hope you enjoy him, now I'm going to take a break from the calculus I'm working on to decide what new pattern I want to work on creating. Perhaps one from Junjou Romantica! I'll do the Duck, Bunny, Mustachioed Panda, and Suzuki-san as a set! I'll add the finished product to my post tonight. Until then have fun!

3/15/13 Sewing and Cid WIP updates

Here are some new udates. I have several things to post for you today. First is a picture of something I stitched for my mom's birthday. She is a huge Eeyore fan. So I used this pattern from MakibirdStitching on deviantart. The pattern looks like this

For the actual stitching I used a few slightly different colors, but it looked fantastic and she loved it.

On another sewing related note I have more completed on my Griever and got my sister to start sewing a Chocobo using a pattern from buzybobbins.blogspot.com
Here's the chocobo pattern.

And my Griever so far is this :3 I didn't get the black done but It's almost there so I'm pretty happy. We had some fantastic weather outside yesterday so I spent the majority of the eventing sewing on my porch and then playing Kingdom Hearts II.

And onto my progress with CID!!! I have two WIP shots for you :)

I'll have it finished by the end of next week for sure. That's all for now!

3/14/13 Griever Update and Cid Highwind (Also It's White Day!)

Today is March 14th, in Japan that's White Day. On Valentine's Day in Japan, hopeful girls give the boys they like chocolate, and White day is a day for those boys to show if they return the girl's feelings by giving her marshmallows. I didn't give out any chocolate, because I'm already happily taken, so I don't expect any marshmallows but its a fun fact to be aware of!~ Anyway, On to the other topics. I got more done on my Griever Cross stitch and since I don't have anything going on tonight I'll probably finish up the black stitching tonight. Here's the picture

I've also started a new drawing. Cid Highwind from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. I love Cid's personality and his masculine face should be fun to draw. I'm really used to drawing feminine guys like Vincent so I hope Cid (like Angeal) can help me move away from that.
Here's a progress shot of Cid, I"m not very far along but I'll post more WIP shots as I go.

3/12/13 ANIME REVIEW: Junjou Romantica

I said I'd do Anime Reviews and I'm gonna do it. Our first Review is of one of my favorite series (so you can tell this one will be pretty biased but others to come will be more fair) WARNING: This is a yaoi anime so if you don't like BOYXBOY you should skip this post! Anyway onto the Review.

Junjou Romantica follows the stories of three couples. The main couple consists of Misaki and Usagi. Misaki is a young student trying hard to get into the college of his dreams, Mitsuhashi University, the school his brother, Takahiro, couldn't attend because he dedicated his life to raising Misaki. Misaki's grades are far from perfect however, and Takahiro asks his childhood friend Usami Akihiko to tutor Misaki. Misaki soon learns he's in for one hell of a ride as Usami (friends call him Usagi) is a lazy, perverted, chain smoking, Boy's Love novelist. That's right.. XD (dun dun dun) He's gay. Usagi has been in love with Misaki's brother for a very long time but he doesn't make a move for fear of ruining their friendship. As the months go on and Misaki gets to know Usagi better he starts to feel sympathetic towards him. On the day of Takahiro's birthday, Misaki and Usagi throw him a birthday party and Takahiro announces his plans to marry a woman (whom we see very little of after that) named Kajiwara Minami. Usagi quickly covers his hurt and shock by congratuating his friend, but Misaki can't seem to do the same. He makes up some crappy excuse about needing to buy sake and drags Usagi outside and under a street light bawling his eyes out. Misaki tells Usagi he's sorry and that he can't believe his brother could be that mean, and of course Usagi awed that someone is actually crying for him and his hurt feelings falls for Misaki on the spot. They share a romantic kiss under the streetlamp and thus begins their very humorous and turbulant relationship.

The second couple consists of Literature professor Hiroki, and would be doctor Nowaki. Hiroki had been in love with Usagi since childhood and had recently had his heart broken when a strange young man named Nowaki finds him crying in the park. A short while later, he begs Hiroki tutor him so he can pass his high school equivalence exams and get into university. Hiroki blatantly says "NO!" and gains a new stalker who goes so far as to steal his house key, break in, and cook him breakfast. Eventually Hiroki agrees to tutor him. Nowaki hears Hiroki talking in his sleep about Usagi and gets jealous, wanting to be the one Hiroki loves, so when Usagi actually shows up at Hiroki's apartment, Nowaki grabs Hiroki around the waist and says "I'm sorry, Hiro-san is mine!" Once the door is closed Nowaki admits his love and is kicked out. He comes back later and apologizes for his actions but says he can't give up. He says "When I fell in love with you, you were crying, but now, I want to see you smile!" Thus begins a really rocky relationship full of trust issues and a lot of Hiroki being a pissy bitch (don't get me wrong, he's my favorite character <3 <3 <3)

The third couple consists of Fellow Literature proffessor (and Hiroki's Partner) You Miyagi, and high school student Shinobu Takatsuki. Shinobu is Miyagi's Ex Wife's son who's been studying abroad in Australia. He heard Miyagi got divorced and has come back to Japan to tell Miyagi it is their Destiny to be together! After this announcement Miyagi utters to the viewer my favorite line "There Stood before me...A Terrorist" Miyagi throughout the first few days of Shinobu staying with him constantly tries to get it into the boy's head that he's a straight as can be, but Shinobu is persistant. Finally however he succeeds and Shinobu runs away to his stay with his mommy instead. Miyagi begins to get lonely without his little Terrorist following him around all the time and calls up his Ex to see how the kids doing. Turns out Shinobu's heading back to Australia since he can't be with Miyagi. The very next scene we see Shinobu sitting at the airport and Miyagi comes strolling up to him saying "I don't know about this Destiny stuff, but I'm willing to give it a chance." And they begin a complicated mess of a relationship (though not quite as complicated as Hiro-san and Nowaki's)

Now ONTO THE REVIEW PART: My favorite couple by far is Nowaki and Hiroki. They seem to have the most problems in their relationship, but the character types aren't your typical Seme and Uke. Young, sweet, shy and quiet Nowaki is the Seme. And brash, loud, violent Hiroki is the Uke. Yes they visually they fit the stereotype, but I never thought I'd scream so much at my tv things like "NOWAKI YOU IDIOT!!!!!" or "Oh come on Hiro-san!!! Stop blaming him! ITS YOUR OWN FAULT!" Its a little dissappointing though, while the series gives a solid resolution to Usagi and Misaki's relationship, the other two don't really have any closure. We get Hiroki moving in with Nowaki, but they still have problems, and Miyagi finally admitting he's head over heals for Shinobu...but then what?? The manga's ongoing but I wish the anime would have gone on! The animation quality is good, and the pastel colors are adorable. (Usagi's bedrooms kinda creepy though) The side and background characters are fun and love to get in the way, whether they think they're being helpful or not. The opening songs are really catchy and will have you singing along in no time! Any yaoi fangirl or a girl just getting into yaoi will love it. Heck it was truly my gateway into being a yaoi fangirl <3

Squall's Greiver Cross Stitch WIP

Just thought I'd show you my progress, so this will be short and sweet. Here it is so far

3/8/13 Angeal, Sora, and Riku

So I've finished Angeal. Let's take a minute to talk about it. He took a total of 3 and 1/2 hours to complete and was a total labor of love <3 <3 His face was the most difficult thing I've drawn yet and I welcomed the challenge. I love the subtle highlights on his cheekbones and nose, and the texture of his hair is lovely~ I also like the details on the Buster Sword a lot. I hope you enjoy them too. And now on to my next topic. Sora and Riku. I was bored last night and my sister was willing, so I drew two temporary tattoos on her arms. Kingdom Hearts II versions of Sora (her right arm) and Riku (her left). I chose each arm's character for a reason. Let's talk about Sora first

Sora is on the right arm because "Right" is viewed as "Righteous" and Sora is our pure hearted hero. He took a total of an hour to complete and is drawn using all gel pens except for his hair which was done with a pale brown copic marker. His legs are a bit off, but I think he turned out cute all the same. Now, on to Riku.

Allow me to start off by saying I LOVE RIKU. He's my second favorite character in this series after Axel *squee* (who doesn't love Axel~) Anyway. His character development from kind of arrogant and the typical Rival stereotype into the most devoted loyal friend, going so far as to practically lose his identity in the darkness for Sora's sake. So SWEET. I chose to place Riku on my sister's left arm as way back when, children born left handed were thought to be the spawn of Satan, and I thought that would corrolate well with his relationship to the darkness. His expression on her arm looks so awesome and I will say that when she flexes, his muscles get bigger <3 <3 <3 That's all I have to say for today. I'll post more of my griever cross stitch and other art next time.

3/7/13 Cross Stitching

I'm the type of girl who loves to sew, and make her own patterns. So this post is going to be dedicated to my current cross stitch project. Squall's Griever pendant from Final Fantasy VIII. I created this pattern by hand with graph paper and transferred it onto my computer with the paint program and some digital graph paper. I have to get the progress shot off my phone tonight, but here's the pattern. Feel free to download it yourself, but if you do sew it please show me the finished project as I will post my WIPs and the finished project as I go

3/6/13 Zack Fair and my Angeal Hewley WIP

Home from school now and free to post. Tonight for you all I have my completed drawing of Zack Fair from Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core with the Buster sword, and my WIP drawing of Angeal Hewley from the same game. Zack took around 2 hours to complete and so far I've put about 2 and a half into Angeal. I'm also currently sewing one of my original patterns for cross stitch from Final Fantasy VIII but I'll talk about that in a different post when I'm farther along. Here's Zack for you I love the way his eyes look, and his lips too. The shading and detail on the Buster Sword were the hardest part And Here's Angeal So far His face has been a real struggle but I'm happy with how it looks now. I just need to finish up his sword and his clothing and it'l be perfect!

Intro to my blog

Ok so I tried writing a blog once before and lets just ignore that awful attempt, I was a freshman in highschool and it was just plain childish. I'm going to use this blog to just talk about anime, cosplay, and all my fun creative projects that I do! That said I'll start this post with something to let you know me better. My dream carreer is to be an artist, and I draw constantly. I love to sew and cosplay, as well as watch anime and do songdubs. You can watch me on Deviantart here: http://www.kakashi-copycat-kun.deviantart.com Here's a sample of my work. I'll probably post more later but this is a good start I'll post some previews of my other works later today when I'm not in school XD
