A picture I made...A story about my life (BORING)...possible fanfic-ness and Sewing WIP (bonus cosplay update)

Ok, so the first picture of Jack Spicer....is an edit I did of the second picture. I'm sure you all want an explanation for this foolishness, and believe me there is one!

Here's how the story goes. This week at work I was scheduled to work a total of 13 hours, a schedule I LOVED because I still have a lot to get done on our Winx Club cosplays. This week, I worked at least 26 hours or so...TWICE as much as I was scheduled to....because I'm too nice to say no. And the last two days were murder. I worked a morning shift for a coworker who took my shift, since his mom was in the hospital...and then the closer for that night called in sick, and we asked my sister Ami to come in and close. She said yeah and we thought everything would be cool. THEN IT HAPPENED. We were hit hard with a rush...just two employees in the entire store, my self and a guy about my age named Josh. We had a line winding around the establishment, our vault was broken so we couldn't get change out of it (we had to go to the office and get it out of a bag and what not), our card reader was taking 40 second to load....something in back was leaking/flooding....and it went on link this from 11AM (I got there at 10) until 4 PM, when Josh was scheduled to leave, and Ami was supposed to show up. Just then, Ami calls. She can't find her uniform shirt...and before I can beg Josh to stay until she does find it, he's out the back door, leaving me all alone, as 20 more people flood the store. (COULDN"T MAKE THIS UP IF I TRIED). So here I am...trying my best until one of my other co-workers, a girl named Ashley shows up on her day off for food, sees me flailing around trying to please everyone, and she like an angel from the heavens joins me. 20 mins later, Ami arrives and I finish off the last ten minutes of my shift. At 5 I RAN.

Then yesterday, I was scheduled a 5-10 shift, an easy five hours, but at 4, the closer, a lady named Leah calls me...She's sick and wants to know if I can take her shift. She says she'll make it up to me...so I say (irritatedly) yeah, fine. I go in, thinking it will be fine. NOPE The people I'm working with are both gonna be gone by 8, and we close at midnight. OH!! And there's a basketball tournament in town, so we're busy as all get out, and I'm facing four hours alone later that night. The first guy leaves at 7, his names Elijah. Elijah's a cool dude, loves anime and stuff, says' he's got a martial arts class at the local gym, but he'll come back and help out. I thank him soooo much, and get back to work with the other guy (a dude I really don't like), and the other guy leaves at eight. I manage to get all caught up, and serve maybe two people, then a group of 6 come in, and I'm patiently serving them, while mentally screaming, and I hear the back door, and Elijah's voice say WOAH. Thankfully he came back like he promised and we get all caught up again. It dies down by ten and you're all wondering what this has to do with the picture. Well, Ami and I sometimes text each other Role-playing as Jack and Chase. I get a text from her saying "you all right, Spicer?" and I send back "no, Chase, I haven't eaten since 3 and the radio's out...it's creepy here." she sends back with "want me to show?" I say yeah, and as I'm serving another customer, in she comes with her video games and awesomeness. She kept me company the whole night talking about how much it sucks working at Subway and how it would be if Jack worked there. Then she says, "we should write a fanfic about it! We could go all in detail about how much it fucking sucks!" and we talked about that all night until I finally got to go home at about 12:40. So today, I sat down and made a "cover" so to speak for our fanfic. LONG STORY OVER

And now you know what the "possible fanfic-ness" mentioned in the title is. I'll probably post the chapters on here as I finish them with a title letting you all know that the whole post will be a fanfic. That way if you're not interested, you can ignore it.

To go along with this Jack themed post, here's more WIP of my Jack pattern

I got up to his shoulder/elbow blocked out and almost stitched!

Brief Cosplay update and then I'm done I promise! Tecna has a purple bodysuit now she just needs the white, her shoes, and her wings, my brother's Stella cosplay is done, Darkar just needs his torso sanded/painted and some bones made onto his shirt, Musa just needs her wings finished up and her shirt and tummy cover made, and then we'll be ready for Torii-con which is in just 18 days!

Sewing and cosplay WIPs, and something I haven't done in FOREVER

Well, I've been not so diligently working on my Jack Spicer cross-stitch, and slowly but surely, he's taking shape. I have a little over a month until Torii con, so I don't really have a lot of time for fun (Oh the irony). He's looking like this, as I slowly stitch in the shading on his arm. Not a lot of progress since my last post, but some.

The thing that's eating most of my time is our cosplays. I have a massive amount of costume sewing to do, armor to make, and shoes to craft, however, Wigs are now done (or as done as I'm gonna fiddle with them.)

Ami's Tecna wig is the bright pink one pictured below, I'm wearing the unaltered version of my Musa wig.

Now my wig was a pain. I crafted the pigtails out of thin craft foam, cut the shapes out, covered them in layers of rubber cement, and wig fibers of the same color as my wig, and then hot glued them to the original but now much shorter pigtails of the wig. Inside of the wig, under the the net is a hairband with two wooden sticks on it, which are stuffed inside the pigtails to sort of make them stand up right, however one of them insists on tilting downward. All in all, though, it's kind of impressive!

The last thing I'm going to post about tonight, is a Jack Spicer tribute video I made! I used to make little videos like this all the time when I was in middle school, but I sort of fell out of it. A while back when I was working on my pattern of Jack, I was searching youtube for some inspiration, when I looked up "Jack Spicer I'm Still Here" because I thought the song from Treasure Planet would suit him just right, and that someone had to have made it already, however there wasn't one. So I made one! It was a lot of fun doing all the editing and searching for clips and audio bites! I really enjoy the finished product, and I hope you do too!

Finished Jack Pattern and WIP stitching! Also I dyed my hair!

I finally finished the pattern! So here is Jack Spicer in all his glory! I'm thinking about humoring Ami, in making patterns of Chase and Wuya to go with it.

I also started stitching him, though I just have the back pack and a little bit of his chest done so far.

The lighting in my room is pretty crappy, but as you can tell from the pic, my hair is not light brown any more, and now I have bangs! Ami dyed her hair this dark blue color, and I fell in love with it (it looks just like Musa from Winx Club) so I decided I'd do my hair the same color and got the same hair cut as Musa from late season 2-early season 3! I LOVE IT so much! Anyway short post is short, have a great day! I'm gonna get back to sewing!

Happy New Year, and more of a WIP pattern

Well it's about a quarter 'til 8AM here, and since I closed up shop at work around 1AM, I haven't been able to fall asleep. I've just been sitting here on Ami's laptop listening to music by Mindless Self Indulgence, and working on my Jack Spicer pattern. I'm honestly really tired and bored right now, but my body won't sleep. So, if you're a Spicer fan like me, how about I post the pattern so far, show off my rediculously slow progress, spam some videos of him being dorky, have a laugh, and then I'll end my post and go back to systematically putting little squares of color into a grid that will eventually be a massive portrait of a cartoon character that likely only I care about!

Anyway, here he is so far, I've managed to get most of his neck and coat done, some of the arm, and I even have some of his hair and face!!

Isn't he cute!! Anyway I'm gonna spam my favorite Jack spicer videos below. So if you love him, you'll enjoy, and if you don't have any clue who he is, you can sort of get an idea!

This first one is just a tribute to him that I fell in love with.

Next is some awesome Jack Spicer and Chase Young Moments! (I'll most likely do a Chase pattern at some point XD )

And just some Jack moments!

Now that my exhausted and probably boring fangirl rantings are over, I'm gonna get back to work. Have a FANTASTIC AND SPAZZTASTICAL NEW YEAR IN 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New pattern WIP, New Patterns, New con, New Cosplay, New problems....

Well I'm feeling like crap today, been nauseous for the past 3 days, and I had to finally cave in and call in sick to work today. With how understaffed we are, I always feel terrible calling in sick, and try to tough it out as best I can...but today I just couldn't, which made my sister, and co-worker, Ami very mad...I can't help that I'm sick and she's just certain it'll be a terrible night and it's all my fault... /RANT OVER/

Anyway, thanks to Ami, an old fandom of mine has sort of had its flame rekindled into a searing volcano....Do you guys like Xiaolin Showdown? Do you guys like JACK SPICER, EVIL BOY GENIUS? I DOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I started a massive pillow sized pattern of him. It's a shot from the second episode, where he's drinking either tea or coffee in France, using the Third Arm Sash. When I was like twelve I had a massive crush on Jack, he was just so dorky and yet so evil...but when I got into Jr. High, I grew out of it and kinda forgot all about him, then just a few days ago, Ami asked me about some random Shen Gong Wu, and then it hit me again like a ton of bricks. (This also means that a Jack Spicer Cosplay is inevitable, with Ami as Wuya, and Logan as Chase Young, but not for some time hehe). Anyway here's the pattern so far! It's gonna be another MASSIVE ONE!

I also have two DRAMAtical Murder inspired patterns. Our whole group just adored this short little series, and despite it being Yaoi, Logan can't wait to cosplay Ren!! I'd make an adorable Clear, and Ami Noiz. Speaking of Clear and Noiz! They're the focus of these two patterns. The first is of the smiley face on Noiz's hat! It looks so cute gushing blood <3 It's super small, so it'd also make a great perler project!

Next for you guys I have Clear's Jellyfish! Nuff Said!

I'm still using Ami's computer (hoping for a new one for Christmas), so my Ventus WIP template was lost permanently. I'm gonna have to rework one of my other files that I've already uploaded to make his pillow pattern (which could take a while).

On a totally different topic, a friend of mine is running a small one day convention at her college an hour or so away from where I live. This means I have an excuse to once again limit my time to eat, work, cosplay, sleep, however it'll be a labor of love! For this con, we are doing the Winx Club season 2 outfits. Ami will be Tecna, I will be Musa, and Logan will be Lord Darkar the Shadow Pheonix! So excited!!!!! Anyway I think that's all I have to rant and rave about! Have a great day, and if I don't post again this month, have HAPPY HOLIDAYS~!!!!

After 'Kon nonsense, a new (completed) pattern, Etsy, and other musings

So Nebraskon was a couple weeks ago, and I'm just now getting settled back into the real world. I always seem to leave the convention wishing I could stay in such a friendly place full of warmth and togetherness, but alas, the real world beckons, and so does my job and other responsibilities... Anyway, I still don't have a computer of my own, so I'm posting this from Ami's before I go to work today...

I think I'll start off by showing the cosplays we all wore, and talking in depth about them a little, since I didn't do much of that this year!

First up, we did a Final Fantasy group on Halloween, with Ami as Yuffie from FFVII Dirge of Cerberus, and myself as Reno. We met an awesome Chocobo named Kweh and a lovely genderbent Barrett at the FF Get together, as pictured below! Reno's outfit was really just me throwing together a suit and styling a wig, however I did make his weapon completely from scratch. It was two pieces of pipe stuck together, some wooden dowels, some craft foam, and believe it or not I even used a candle! I wrapped craft foam around a really thin dowel and shoved it into one end of the pipe, then glued it into place, then I carved a hole into the candle, stuck a black ribbon through it and glued that. Then I proceeded to melt the candle on the outside until it was able to fit into the other end of the pipe, then I glued the cap to one of those little coin machine bubbles like they have outside walmart and what not to the tip. Hit it with spraypaint and electrical tape, and ta-dah! Yuffie was made from scratch completely from head to toe as well as her shuriken, but for prop how-to's you'll have to ask Ami.

Next on the list is Logan, who cosplayed as Leon/KH Squall the whole weekend. Logan is pictured on the left of an awesome Dress Uniform Squall we met while wandering the halls! His gunblade is a large wooden blade attached to a small, still functional cap gun. This means that if he loads it with caps, it will fire, make a noise and emit smoke! His outfit was a combined effort between the two of us, and his wig and makeup done by me.

Now onto the main cosplays of the weekend! Our Kingdom Hearts II group! Ami cosplayed the main protagonist, Sora, and her outfit, wig, and shoes were made entirely from scratch by me, with a little help from her. Her Keyblade on the other hand (the large thing lighting up on the left) was made by the three of us. I did the handle, she made the shaft and keychain, and Logan made the blade. Our amazing dad made the whole thing light up, and if you could see it on the ground or a wall, it lights up in the shape of a keyhole, fitting the theme of the game. My Riku cosplay also had his Organization XIII coat, which earned me quite a few squeals when I took it off on stage to reveal his normal outfit underneath! Our group got judges choice for the group position, earning us our second cosplay contest victory, some DVDs, and $25! Below I'll also picture my Organization coat, since you can't see it in the group shot.

Now cosplay ranting aside :) I have a new cross-stitch pattern! It is a Mine Craft Parody of My Neighbor Totoro! It features a dirt block and enderman as the two girls, and a ghast as Totoro! I'm actually already almost done sewing it as a pillow, and it will be for sale on Ami and I's Etsy shop! Here's the pattern. It's actually rather small, as the Ghast is only about 50 stitches tall max. It doesn't take long to sew at all! If you're interested in our Etsy the shop can be found by copying and pasting this link! https://www.etsy.com/shop/GeekFandomFactory

Until next time!
